The Sweetness of Hermaphroditus

This past weekend at the Rainbow Moon Circle Loving Moon, we got to enjoy some of the lovely energy of Hermaphroditus, the intersex child of Hermes and Aphrodite. I wanted to share some of the delightful highlights here, so that you can partake at your own altar at home.

First, here's the song we used to invoke Them.

“Who comes, who comes
Sweet-faced youth, You come

O child of mine, wandering far
Keep safe, my little star

Winged love, grown so strong
What’s ripped asunder, You make whole

Who comes, who comes
Hermaphroditus, You come”

We also shared in an absolutely amazing Self-Love Elixir.

Hermaphroditus' Union of Opposites Self-Love Elixir

1/2 cup lemonade
1/4 cup rosewater
1/4 cup orange blossom water
1 teaspoon of honey

Speak the following blessings while you pour each ingredient in.
  • Lemonade: May this tartness make everything else all the sweeter.
  • Rosewater: May you drink in for yourself the love that you give others.
  • Orange blossom water: May this gladden your spirit and uplift your heart.
  • Honey: May this healing sweetness soothe your wounds and give you strength

Mix together and toast yourself. Then drink!
